I have had 3 of her dogs. She breeds strong, smart and loving dogs! She is personally invested in her dogs and the results are apparent.

We contacted Danielle two separate times with an application from her website. (2 years apart).

First time, no response at all in 2019)Second time, in April 2022, she finally responded with an e mail after one week. Her e mail was 5 paragraphs long and full of information and pics of 2 available puppies. we felt confident that wed found a good breeder. We responded immediately and said wed like to come visit at her kennel. No reply.

Sent another short e mail in case first didnt go through. Nothing. Called her after finding her # and left a VM. No response.

Sent one more e mail several days later and still no response. Finally, after all that she sent a short e mail saying one of her pups diagnosed with cancer. She hoped we found another breeder. ( as I told her we were now looking elsewhere) She lost a sale and potential great home for a puppy.

After reading the reviews here, Im fortunate she didnt respond sooner , as it seems she has issues with communication. Her website is very slick with beautiful pics of her pups and farm. However, communication is key in any transaction.

She fails miserably at that. Dont advertise if you cant deliver!!

DO NOT CHOOSE AMMARDAN BC

Original review Sep 06, 2021

Ive always been told to not get a dog from a breeder. After doing research I came across Ammardan Border Collies out of Ohio, owner being Danielle Nash.

I was reading reviews and people were stating she was taking puppies from their mothers way before the recommended 8wks. I reached out and she had 11wk old puppies so I didnt think anything of it. MY MISTAKE. We met up with her, got our puppy and in the process she said that she would mail our check out to the AKC for us so that way it gets done.

Which leads me to why I am here. We sent out our AKC check and no update. Checked to see if it was cashed, nothing. Weve had our puppy for two months.

I emailed her, no response. I am disgusted in the way she operates. She was SO SO adamant about HER registering our puppy when it was something as simple as us just doing it ourselves. It is OUR dog therefore our responsibility.

I would never recommend getting a dog from Danielle. There are far more cleaner and professional places to get your puppy from.

Save yourself the headache, money and time. It is not worth your $1,500.

Had contacted about purchasing a border collie. We filled out all info online as requested and never got back to us. We had a border collie for 15 years and were more than qualified. So happy we did not purchase from here anyways after seeing all the negative reviews and we ended up finding an amazing breeder.

One of the most responsible breeders I have ever met.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have found over the last year the Danielle is one of the MOST responsible breeders I have ever known. She will always take a dog back that is not fitting into a home and works hard to place that dog into a home that it will fit into. I have a retired *** from Danielle and she is the love of my life. She did her homework on me before entrusting me with this dog. I find the negative reviews on here unbelievable. I personally received a very healthy, well trained dog from her and will recommend her to my friends, (and have) and will get dogs from her in the future. Go meet her and see for yourself. Her dogs are well adjusted, healthy, happy and if you get a retired dog from her, well trained.

My dog is healthy and intelligent!!

Ammardan Kennels - My dog is healthy and intelligent!!

Hey, I have my baby boy Odin from mom's dauchounds almost a year now. I can say, he is highly intelligent, healthy and one of the most well behaved dogs I have ever had the pleasure to be around.

When meeting the breeder her and her husband were kind with a clean home especially for having around 15-20 adult dauchounds. To have a litter at most times Is not unreasonable with that many dogs. They claimed to give a full year between mothers births(AT A MINIMUM).

Either way you see it, Odin is constantly out performing in health, intellect, and character then any dog I have met. He knew how to fetch when I got him at 6 weeks...

I think people are jealous of Ammardan because they have the acreage and the life style to manage this beautiful home to raising dogs. I have been there.

They are all cared for. It's a peaceful place of a love and dedication to animals.

I have an Ammardan Border Collie. He is magnificent!

Why would you take s puppy at 6 weeks?! That is not a reputable breeder!

Wow, found these comments by accident. I couldn't disagree with you more!

I have found Maryann Nash to be a gem and yes I have one of her dachshunds and am getting another. You clearly don't have a clue as to what a puppy mill is. Did you not go to check out your puppies before making a decision to purchase and take them home. Did you not think to talk to your vet and ask about the cause for the difference in eye color.

Seems like you want to blame someone else for your lack of research.

I would recommend Maryann to anyone, and have. Take some responsibility for your decisions.

Beware of Ammardan Kennels and Moms Dachshunds

Look up the details of puppy mills and decide for yourself. This breeder constantly breeds dogs and ALWAYS has puppies available. When asked questions about their Border Collies' hips, they cannot provide the OFA numbers for most of their dogs. Do not be deceived as the dogs listed on the website are only a sample of the many dogs that they have in her posession (75-100 at a time including available puppies). When you go to look at a puppy, often the parents and/or other multitudes of litters are being kept at her relative's or Mom's house so you will not be able to see all of the dogs that Ammardan has and they will always hold back 2 or sometimes 3 from each litter to add to their profit making scheme. Ammardan breeds before the dogs are even 2 years old, which is the minimum age for the OFA requirements. Do not trust this breeder. They have been known to breed Whippets, Border Collies, Poodles, Dachshunds, and also offers pets that are "rescued" for a hefty fee. This breeder is also affiliated under "MomsDachshunds."

Ammardan has had Border Collie hip ratings as "Pending" who ALREADY HAVE PUPPIES ON THE GROUND. Then when the dogs cannot be bred anymore, they are conveniently re-homed. Why do these breeders claim on their websites that dogs are a lifetime commitment yet they cannot make that commitment to their own canines?

Below are two points from a website that lists warning signs for potential puppy mills. Research and decide for yourself.

?The numbers don’t add up. If there is only one or two people at the location but dozens of dogs, it would seem impossible to think each dog gets proper care, exercise and socialization. Unless they work in shifts or have a system for individualized care, ask them to explain their process or check for other signs listed here.

?The breeding parents are not available or kept offsite. So basically their site is where the puppies get dropped off every time the parents breed, and this can also be a sign that the parents are kept in horrible conditions or are being forced to breed with every heat cycle.

?Advertisements are constantly in the newspaper classifieds, on fliers passed out in public places or listed on the internet to buy puppies from the same person or organization.

?An organization listed as a rescue is selling puppies in large numbers or always seems to have them available.

This is a total lie. You can’t afford the dog.

Get over it. I’ve been there and saw the entire property and living conditions and litters.

These are show dogs and only 2 litters a year. That’s why they cost so much with vet certifications too

Danielle is an excellent pet owner and knowledgable breeder. She has never had a problem providing documents that I requested. Pay a visit to her place yourself- you would clearly see a warm home full of loved dogs.

Contacted Moms Dachshunds while searching for a female long haired mini. She was helpful and polite.

Even though she didn't currently have any pups available, she referred me to her friend who did have one. That was one year ago this month and my furbaby has thrived and is absolutely beautiful. She is well behaved, easily housebroke, and has had NO health problems.

I honestly don't feel a "puppy mill" would have referred me to another private breeder. Moms Dachshunds is also listed on the AKC site as a reputable buyer.

You people should be ordered to cease and desist!

I have 2 of the BEST dachshunds from her.

She's an excellent breeder. Loves these dogs more than some owners!

Her house is clean!

She lives on a farm! Hello...

Sometimes a fly gets inside... You people should be sued in a court of law and held accountable for atrempting to tarnish good people.

After having a prior bad experience with a breeder I researched a lot for my next dog. Even after seeing this review I made the decision to meet with Danielle with Ammardan because I feel that the photos of her dogs and her place do not reference anything I'd see as a puppy mill.

She answered all questions that I had through email (some which pertained to this review) and I was welcomed into a home with some of the most beautiful and happy dogs I have ever met. They are well socialized and groomed and well trained. She was also able to show me health records that I asked about.

I decided to comment here to say that you should visit this breeder to make your own conclusion. I have decided to be put on her waiting list because her dogs are beautiful and well cared for.

Ammardan Puppy Mill

Having worked with animal rescue organizations for many years I felt it my duty to bring attention to the questionable operation practiced at Ammardan Kennels… My daughter bought her Whippet from this breeder, believing that the kennels were legitimate. She was promised that the papers would be posted, they never were, the breeder Danielle Nichols was almost impossible to get hold of after the purchase, eventually when she did track her down she told my daughter that she had posted the papers and my daughter must have lost them.

The puppy appeared to have a cold but Ms Nichols told my daughter it was nothing, just the cold weather making the puppy's nose run, it wasn't, the puppy was quite sick and had other problems that involved surgery to correct. The breeder wanted nothing to do with it, saying the puppy was sold "As Is". When my daughter started to investigate this operation further she became very suspicious of a puppy mill operation. My advice would be NOT to buy a puppy from these kennels or "Moms Dachshunds" another breeder associated with this kennel (D.

Nichols Mother) without doing extensive research first. Start by looking up Ammardan Kennels on Google and read the reviews.

Also beware of their "Puppy Guarantee & Condition of Sale" I found it completely shocking.

Do your research please before dealing with these people. We found no absolute proof that this is a puppy mill operation, the people involved were very evasive, but there were enough discrepancies to give weight to our suspicions.

The disgraceful treatment my daughter received on its own is enough to recommend that people avoid this operation.

I don't believe these negative reviews...

These kennels and dogs are amazing...

I think the negative reviews come from jealous competitors.

We never got our papers either.

I tried numerous times , (over 6 mths time) First being told they were given to me already.

My emails were ignored, and phone calls went straight to voicemail .and the vet papers we did get, had 2 different birth dates on them.

Finally got an email saying there were no papers filed (no explanation)

And that his birthday was a completely different date and he was a year older than they originally told me.

I still don't know my babies birthday :(

They eventually emailed me puppy pics of him ...unfortunately half of them are not my guy. I love my boy more than anything and am so blessed, he is my soul mate ...but would never recommend them to anyone.

It was a bizarre experience and he was very very skinny when we got him. He suffers from separation anxiety and seizures.

They did the same thing to me. I purchased a puppy from them and spent $1K on the pup.

They promised the papers. Papers were never received. I'll never recommend them to anyone. They just want to have a monopoly on dog breeding.

Calculate how much they make per year if they're charging $1K on pups and selling 75 pups per year.

Dishonest puppy mill. Don't be fooled by their website that doesn't show the whole picture.

They withheld papers from me too a few years ago. I thought they were nice and I guess I was a bit too trusting because they were so easy to buy a puppy from that I thought getting papers would be easy too.

She didn't have them when I purchased the dog but said she'd send them in the mail. I never received the papers. I even went to her house later on to see her in person when she said she'd have the papers available. She conveniently "couldn't find" them and said she'd mail them.

The papers never came. She probably kept the papers and used them on a future litter!!!!

We got a border collie from Danielle 3 years ago. She was always in touch and available.

We visited Cooper as a puppy. Raised in her kitchen w a bevy of border collies. All beautiful, well cared for, loving, and trained. We received our papers about 2 months after getting him.

He is THE BEST DOG I'VE EVER HAD. So sweet and loving w a very good "off switch" . And he's never been destructive in any way. We keep in touch w Danielle randomly via FB and she always replies and is happy to know how one of her dogs is doing.

She shows dogs, and if you took 2 min you would see (via her website) that she breeds 3 or 4 times a year. Puppy mill??? Please. A Dr I work w got a puppy from her by my recommendation and has been nothing but thrilled w his dog and impressed with Danielle.

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience. That being said, I have met plenty of people who are impossible to please.

Sometimes ignorant, or sometimes just......eh. no need to go there.

Guest

I almost cancelled my visit to this breeder today based on two negative reviews I read on this website. I'm glad now that I didn't.

I was completely prepared for a negative experience, but instead was welcomed into a home with many clean, well trained and socialized Border Collies. They all answered individually by name and had obviously been worked with by Danielle for years. Her commands were given in calm, friendly tones that the dogs happily responded to.

I would recommend that if you are considering this breeder, you should take the time to make a personal visit and decide for yourself. I will post this same reply to the other post that almost prevented me from visiting as well.

Guest

Please, are you kidding me?! You stated that you have worked with animal rescue groups, yet allowed your daughter to buy a dog from a BREEDER?!

I too have been on the board of directors of several animal rights groups and we were ALL in agreement that ALL breeders are horrible and do horrific things behind closed doors, and therefore would NEVER advocate patronizing these monsters who exploit pets for a buck. But you should know that!! You and your daughter should be ashamed. Please stick to pet shelters and rescue groups.

And not to mention the pet overpopulation problem!

That dog your daughter bought was one less dog that got out of a shelter alive. Shameful.

Guest

I too had an issue with Danielle, who promised papers and never delivered them. Definitely a disappointment to have gone with this breeder.
